چکیده

We use the structure of the Einstein ring image of the quasar host galaxy in the four-image quasar lens PG1115+080 to determine the angular structure of the gravitational potential of the lens galaxy. We find that it is well described as an ellipsoid and that the best fit non-ellipsoidal models are consistent with the ellipsoidal model. We find upper limits on the standard parameters for the deviation from an ellipse of |a3 /a0| < 0.035 and |a4 /a0| < 0.064. We also find that the position of the center of mass is consistent with the center of light, with an upper limit of |∆x|< 0.005 on the offset between them. Neither the ellipsoidal nor the non-ellipsoidal models can reproduce the observed image flux ratios while simultaneously maintaining a reasonable fit to the Einstein ring, so the anomalous flux ratio of the A1 and A2 quasar images must be due to substructure in the gravitational potential such as compact satellite galaxies or stellar microlenses rather than odd angular structure in the lens galaxy. Redshifts of the Gravitational Lenses B1422+231 and PG1115+080

B1422+231 and PG1115+080 are gravitational lens systems producing quadruple QSO images where there is real promise that time delays can constrain the Hubble constant. In addition, the lensing galaxies are both part of groups which can play an important role in modelling the lens potential. This article reports redshifts for the lensing galaxies and three neighboring galaxies in each of the two ...

The internal structure of the lens PG 1115 + 080 : breaking degeneracies in the value of the Hubble Constant

We combine lensing, stellar kinematic and mass-to-light ratio constraints to build a twocomponent (luminous plus dark) mass model of the early-type lens galaxy in PG1115+080. We find a total mass density profile steeper than r, effectively ρ ∝ r ′ with γ = 2.35± 0.1± 0.05 (random + systematic). The stellar mass fraction is f∗ = 0.67 +0.20 −0.25 ± 0.03 inside the Einstein Radius (RE≈1.2 effectiv...

Substructures in lens galaxies : PG 1115 + 080 and B 1555 + 375 , two fold configurations

We study the anomalous flux ratio which is observed in some four-image lens systems, where the source lies close to a fold caustic. In this case two of the images are close to the critical curve and their flux ratio should be equal to unity, instead in several cases the observed value differs significantly. The most plausible solution is to invoke the presence of substructures, as for instance ...

Subaru Mid-infrared Imaging of the Quadruple Lenses Pg1115+080 and B1422+231: Limits on Substructure Lensing

We present mid-infrared imaging at 11.7 μm for the quadruple lens systems, PG1115+080 and B1422+231, using the cooled mid-infrared camera and spectrometer (COMICS) attached on the Subaru telescope. These lensed QSOs are characterized by their anomalous optical and radio flux ratios as obtained for (A1, A2) images of PG1115+080 and (A, B, C) images of B1422+231, respectively, i.e., such flux rat...
